كتاب رحالة رومانطيقيون (يوميات ومشاهدات فلسطين والأردن)يصدر هذا الكتاب في إطار خطة متكاملة لتحقيق وترجمة ونشر مجموعة مختارة من أعمال الرحالة والحجاج والادباء الأوروبيين إلى الشرق، وذلك منذ أقدم الرحلات إلى هذه الديار وحتى الرحلات التى قام بها الأدباء والحجاج والسفراء والسائحون في مطلع القرن العشرين.بما يشكل موسوعة معرفية متكاملة تكشف عن جغرافيا الشرق كما تمثلتها عبر العصور يوميات المسافرين الأوروبين. يسجل لأدب الرحلة الغربي إلى الشرق محاولته أكتشاف عالم مختلف ونقل الانطباعات عن هذا العالم لكن هذا الادب كان في جانب منه قائماً على تنميط الشرق والشرقيين، عبر رسم صور دنيا لهم، بوساطة مخيلة جائعة إلى السحري والإيروسي والعجائبي.تقع على تلك الكتابات التي وضعها بعض الرحالة والشعراء الرومانسيين في وصف رحلتهم إلى فلسطين والأردن، بوصفها مركزا دينياً. تتأسس تلك الرحلات على ذهنية قبلية منجزة، قدمت لها الرحلات الكلاسيكية، وهي تنطوي أيضاً على الكثير من الاستيهام، غير أننا نتجاوز ذلك لنقع على جزئية مهمة، تتحدد بمظهرين، الأول يتمثل بوصف الشرقيين، والعرب، ومحاولة تحليل وجودهم تاريخياً، واجتماعياً، وأنثروبولوجياً، في حين يتمثل المظهر الثاني في المقارنة بين هؤلاء الشرقيين بمن يماثلهم في الغرابة والاختلاف، أي من حيث كونهم يقعون في مدار الآخر، أو المختلف، وبعبارة أخرى غير الأوروبي
