من العنوان "حافة الفضَة" ندرك حافة الهاوية التي سوف تقع فيها "لجين" أو "فضة" البطلة التي اختارتها الروائية فاطمة عبد الحميد لتعلن من خلالها الحرب على الجسد المحكوم بالشرط الإنساني والمقيد بقيدي (الذات/ الأنثى)و (المجتمع/ التقاليد). فاختارت "لجين" الهروب عبر فضاء الانترنت لتعقد زواجها الانترنتي بأحد الشخصيات من مصر ترسل له صورها وهي في كامل أنوثتها ليتم اكتشافهامن أخواتها وأبيها.
عند هذا المنعطف تأخذ الرواية مرحلة جديدة من التصعيد الدرامي، ويتم تفسير تصرفات "فضة" أي "لجين" من قبل الأهل والمجتمع بأن جنية دخلت فيها ويعود إليها سبب سلوكيات الفتاة وتلطيخ سمعتها الناصعة. وبعد تضافر الجهود من أخيها "عبد الله" المتعجرف والمتخلف، والذي قاد حملة شعواء عليها مع أبيه. تم اقتراح أن تزور الفتاة الشيخ "الراقيَ" ليتم استخراج الجنية من جسدها... وعندما يفشل الشيخ في إخراج الجنية من جسد "فضة- لجين" تنتقل العائلة إلى تشخيص المرض عن طريق طبيب نفسي، ليتم اكتشاف المرض، وهو "اضطراب الهوية الفصامي".
وبالتقاطع مع هذه الشخصية المحورية أو بالتوازي معها ثمة شخصيات أخرى وأحداث معيشة تعكسها الرواية، يتم بها ومن خلالها ما تريد أن تقوله فاطمة عبد الحميد؛ لنكتشف بعد الانتهاء من الرواية أنها روائية تتقن لعبة الإبداع من دون المَس بتقاليد المجتمع...
