هي كف النفس عن المحارم وعما لا يجمل بالإنسان فعله ، ومنها العفة عن اقتراف الشهوة المحرمة ، وعن أكل المال الحرام ، وعن ممارسة ما لا يليق بالإنسان أن يفعله مما لا يتناسب مع مكانته الاجتماعية ، وممال يراه الناس من الدناءات ، كالجشع في الولائم والتسابق علي أطايب الطعام ، وكالجشع في التجارة ومزاحمة صغار الكسبة في مجالاتهم الحقيرة قليلة الموارد والأرباح .
