كان إسماعيل بن مصطفى حقي البروسوي أو (البورسوي، نسبة إلى مدينة بورصة) صاحب التفسير المشهور "روح البيان في تفسير القرآن" من أعلام التصوف الإسلامي في الدولة العثمانية، ومن كبار مشايخ الطريقة الجلوتية في الربع الأول من القرن الثامن عشر ميلادي (الثاني عشر الهجري)، كتب بالعربية العديدة من مؤلفاته من مثل كتاب "تمام الفيض في باب الرجال".
وكما هو واضح من عنوانه فهو كتاب في تراجم رجال التصوف في عصره من مشايخ الطريقة الأويسية والخلوتية والجلوتية.
وقد وزع المؤلف كتابه إلى ثلاثة عشر فصلاً وفق ما يلي: الفصل الأول: "في بيان طرق الحق وسر تعدّدها وتكثّرها"، الفصل الثاني: "في بيان فائدة الطريق"، الفصل الثالث: "في تلقين الذكر وما يتعلق به التلقين"، الفصل الرابع: "في صبحة المشايخ وما يتعلّق بها"، الفصل الخامس: "في إلباس أهل الطريقة وسرّهم وكسوتهم"، الفصل السادس: "في سلسلة الطريقة الجلوتية"، الفصل السابع: "في بيان حضرة الشيخ الأكبر"، الفصل الثامن: "في مولد الشيخ"، الفصل التاسع: "في توطّن خضرة الشيخ في القسطنطنيّة"، الفصل العاشر: "في الكرامات العلميّة لخضرة الشيخ"، الفصل الحادي عشر: "في الكرامات العلميّة الظاهرة لخضرة الشيخ"، الفصل الثاني عشر: "في الكرامات الكونيّة لخضرة الشيخ"، الفصل الثالث عشر: "في سبب إختلاط خضرة الشيخ بالسلطان".
