قال الشيخ:من المسائل الأساسية التي يعتمدها المتشددون في مسائل التكفير، عدم العذر بالجهل فيما يسمونه أصل الدين، ويقصدون بذلك ما لا يتصور إسلام بغيره، وهو وحدانية الله تعالى، والرسالة المحمدية وأنها لعموم البشر وهي خاتمة الرسالات، والإيمان باليوم الآخر.
اعلم، بارك الله فيك، أن تقسيم الدين إلى أصول وفروع ليس من مقالات أهل السنة والجماعة، إنما تكلم به المعتزلة وأخذه عنهم المتكلمون الأشاعرة، ومنهم تسرب لكتب أهل السنة المتأخرين.
وهذا التقسيم إن كان مجرد اصطلاح علمي فلا حرج فيه، فقد جرى عليه جماعة من المصنفين، غير أن الحرج كل الحرج هو في تقسيم الدين إلى أصول لا عذر بالجهل فيها وأخرى هي فروع يعذر فيها الجاهل.
