في هذه ا لمجموعة الجديدة، يذهب زياد العناني إلى منطقة شعرية ملتبسة، فقصيدته، التي لم تتخلص من الراسب الإيقاعي الذي ورثته عن قصيدة التفعيلة، تعني قبل أي شيء بحرارتها. إنها قصيدة شجن بالدرجة الأولى، تعاين الذات والعالم والأشياء لا لتصف ولا لتتأمل بشكل تفرجي، بل لتجس حرارة كل شيء. أعني: لتقيس المسافة بين ما هو حي وما هو خال من الحياة. من هنا كان لا بد للقصيدة نفسها من أن تكون حارة ومشحونة بنشيج غنائي يبعدها عما هو مألوف من مواصفات قصيدة النثر. ومنذ البداية، كان زياد العناني يكتب بلغة نوستالجية، ويحرك نصه عكس الزمن بحثاً عن المفقودات. إنه شاعر يتساقط عن كاهل التاريخ لأنه لا يبحث عن قرية الخلود، ولا يريد سوى الوصول إلى أمة. هكذا يحاول بالحنين أن يسترد حرارته الرحمية، وأن يعود إلى براءته الأولى: إلى طمأنينته وضعفه وحلميته. ذلك الحس الوجودي الذي تتميز به قصيدة العناني، لا يجعلها تتأمل الموت وتمتلئ بقلقه، بل يدفعها إلى الشجي، فالموت عنده ليس سوى ذلك الإحساس بالبرد والوحشة الذي يسببه مرور الأشياء باتجاه الماضي وتحولها إلى مفقودات هذه المجموعة تجعل من حرارة النص معياراً لشعريته.
