يزعزع هذا الكتابُ، بما يطرحُه من أسئلةٍ وجوديّةٍ عميقة، رُكناً مطمئنّاً في عمق الذات الإنسانيّة أنشأه فكرُ الحداثة، وخُلاصتُه أنّ الإنسان مسيطرٌ على هذا الكون تمامَ السيطرة؛ لا، لم يكن الإنسان يوماً كذلك! وأقصى ما بلَغَهُ من إمكانٍ، هو سيطرتُه على صناعة الوهم، ولعلّ أكبر وهم هو تأجيل التفكير في الموت إلى حلولِ لحظةِ الموت.
رواية "تراب" نصٌّ يُضمر أكثر ممّا يُظهر، فدَعْهُ يعتملْ في ذاتك، ولا تبحثْ عن منطق للأحداث، فلا أحد من النائمين أخبرنا عمّا يحدث تحت التراب، ولا أحد من الصالحين خلّده التراب.
