هذا هو المجلد الثامن من موسوعة كوبلستون الكبرى فى تاريخ الفلسفة الغربية ، والتى استمرت سنوات طوال نكافح فى إصدارها بسبب تكاسل بعض الزملاء فى العمل حتى إننا اضطررنا فى سنة من السنوات لإصدار مجلد قبل مجلد؛ فقد صدر على سبيل المثال المجلد الثامن الذى يدرس الفلسفة الإنجليزية من بنتام إلى رسل كما يدرس الفلسفة الأمريكية البرجماتية قبل أن نتمكن من إصدار المجلد السابع مع انه يُعَد من أهم أجزاء هذه السلسة إ، لم يكن أهمها جميعا؛ ذلك لأنه يعالج الحركة المثالية الألمانية بعد أن توقف المجلد السادس عند كانط.
