كان يشعرُ بالونس والألفة، وهو بين يديها، تداعب رأسه بأناملها، وتمسد له ظهره أحيانًا، كأنّها زوجته أو حبيبته المُتيّمة. الوحيدة بين كلِّ فتيات البيوت، التى امتلكت قلبَه مُنذ رآها أول مَرة، بجسدها النّحيل، وبشرتها شديدة البياض، وعينيها الزرقاوين اللتين جعلتاها تشبه الملائكة. كانت تبدو فى هذا المكان كعُصفور ملون محبوس فى قفص للقرود. حرصَ كلّ ليلة على أن يذهبَ هناك، حتى لا تقضى ليلتها بين ذِراعى أحد الأفندية، أو المِعلمين، لكنه لم يُفكر يومًا فى أن يُخرجها من هذا المصير، اكتفى فقط بحُبها له، وبعض النقود يدسّها فى يدها خفية، قبل أن يتركها ويرحل، هذا قبس من رواية «بير سكران» للكاتب الأستاذ أحمد عبدالعزيز صالح
