في مدينة يمنية أنهكتها الحرب، حتى صار انقطاع الكهرباء خبراً عادياً ووصولها حدثاً يستحق التهنئة، تتعطّل غسّالة المواطن صالح القديمة ذات صباح. عطلٌ بسيط لا يحتاج إلا إلى قطعة غيار، لكنه يقع في يد أبي الكرار، مشرف الحي، فيتحوّل إلى «عدوان أمريكي صهيوني» على البنية التحتية المنزلية.
وفي أيام قليلة تصير الغسّالة قضية رأي عام: بيانات عاجلة، وتقارير تلفزيونية، ومحللون سياسيون، وخطب، ومسيرات، ولجنة عليا، وصندوق تبرعات، وجبايات إلزامية، بينما يغسل صالح وأسرته ملابسهم بأيديهم.
قصة ساخرة عن الذين يستثمرون في الأزمات أكثر مما يعرفون كيف ينهونها، وعن المواطن البسيط الذي لا يريد من الدنيا أكثر من راتب يصل، وكهرباء لا تنقطع، وغسّالة تعمل دون أن تتحول إلى قضية أمن قومي.
