هناك، وبعيدًا عن الأحداث، ظهر وميض الأمل الساطع، ولمحات نورٍ جعلته يقرر الرحيل مرةً أخرى، سيرحل؛ ليخوض حرب التحرير الفاصلة، التي سيواجه فيها أعتى وألدَّ أعدائه، الملقب بقسطنطين، ذلك العدو الغاشم الذي أثمَتله ذكرى عطرُ حواء، فتغشَّت مخيلته سحائب وغيامات، دعاه هذا إلى جلسَات علاجٍ متكررةٍ، الأمر الذي جعله يشعر ويكأنه سجينٌ أخرسٌ، لا يقوَى على الكلام، ولا حلِّ شفرة طلسم الدم!
هناك، وبعيدًا عن الأحداث، ظهر وميض الأمل الساطع، ولمحات نورٍ جعلته يقرر الرحيل مرةً أخرى، سيرحل؛ ليخوض حرب التحرير الفاصلة، التي سيواجه فيها أعتى وألدَّ أعدائه، الملقب بقسطنطين، ذلك العدو الغاشم الذي انتصر عليه، وسجنه بالقبو الملعون يعاني فيه لسعة الصقيع المحمل بغبار الموت، فمكث فيه ما مكث، لا يؤانس وحدته سوى ذكرى مشوشةٍ لحبيبته ذات الحذاء الأبيض، ولأنه شعر بأن هلاكه بات وشيكًا، فقد قرر كتابة مذكراته، مذكرات ميت! لم يكن ميتًّا بالفعل، لكنه كان مثل الكثيرين من البشر، أحياء ولكن..
ولكنهم يقدمون أرواحهم كأنها القربان المقدس، حتى أصبحت حياتهم شبكة متداخلة من المتاعب، ولو شئت قل: شبكة غموض محيّرة، فأصبحوا كما الساخط على حياته، الذي سيترك من ورائه إرث الخوف، وسينزوي بعيدًا هناك، وسط النسيان، في غياهب الذكريات المؤلمة، مستترًا خلف الأمل البعيد من وراء حجب؛ ليكتب بيده ويَسْطُر قصته... القصة الأخيرة.
