في كتابه "النبويات" يقتفي أ. د "بهجت عبد الغفور الحديثي" درب الشعراء القدامى في فن المديح النبوي الشريف، كقصيدة كعب بن زهير - البردة - وما تلاها من مدائح الشعراء من صحابة رسول الله محمد (ص) غسان بن ثابت، وعبد الله بن رواحه، وغيرهم، وذلك من حيث المعاني والتراكيب والألفاظ والصور الفنية الرائعة والرموز وما شابه. أما عن نبوياته فيقول الدكتور الحديثي: "... إن قصائدي النبوية هذه، هي بحق نبراس شعري، والمعبرة عن عواطفي الدينية ومشاعري وأفكاري، أصدق تعبير وأجله (...) إنها خلجات نفس شاعرة أحبت الرسول محمد (ص)، لا بل هامت بحبه الذي يُنطق حتى الصخر، ولولا حبي لنبي الرحمة لما نظمت شعراً ولا نشرت (...) ولهذا.. آثرت النبويات مستقلة في كتيب خاص بها، لعلي أحظى برضا الله سبحانه. .. وفي هذا قلت: إذا خطت يمني غير خط... يسرّ المرء في اليوم العصيب سألت الله أن يعفو وظني... بأن الله يعفو للمنيب وقد حاولت في جل قصائدي النبوية أن أتخلص من ديباجة القصيدة القديمة، وأن أجدد في بنائها الفني والعقدي والفكري ما استطعت الى ذلك سبيلا.." هذا وقد جاءت قصائد الكتاب على وفق الحروف العجائبية لقافية كل قصيدة من القصائد الست والتي توزعت حسب العناوين الآتية: "عذراً أبا الزهراء"، "أنت الحبيب"، "الجرح وبشرى الميلاد"، "يا رحمة ظلت تفوح بعطرها"، "رسول الله"، "هذا النبي".
