إن الأسباب التى تدفع رجلا من جيل ما بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية مباشرة على التفكير عن المرأة فى عصره ليست سرًا . كيف لانتساءل حول المكانة الجديدة للنساء وعلاقتهن بالرجال فيما غير نصف القرن الأخير الوضع النسائى أكثر مما فعلت الألفيات السابقة؟ فالنساء كن " أمهات" مخلوقات للإنجاب، ثم تجاوزن هذه العبودية الأزلية. وكانت النساء يحملن بالأمومة والبقاء فى المنزل، ثم رغبن فى ممرسة نشاط مهنى. وكن خاضعات لأخلاقيات صارمة، ثم حظين بالحرية الجنسية كحق من حقوق المواطنة. كما كن محصورات فى القطاعات النساية، وهاهن يفتحن ثغرات فى القلاع الذكورية، ويحصلن على الشهادات نفسها ، ويطالبن بالندية فى مجال السياسة. وهكذا لم يقع فى هذا العصر تزعزع اجتماعى يماثل التحرر النسائى فى عمقه وسرعته وثراء مستقبله.
