في هذا الكتاب يقدم الأديب اللغوي البارز "كمال أبو مصلح" قراءته الخاصة في "اللا موجود والدين والوجود" هو العنوان الذي اختاره لعمله الفلسفي هذا في قضية الوجود وأسرارها متخذاً من ديانات الأرض عبر التاريخ مادة للمناقشة والمسائلة العقلية بكثير من الجرأة والوضوح. يتساءل الكاتب مخاطباً القارئ: "ماذا بقي –أيها الأخ- من آداب الإنجيل والقرآن في حياة الناس في أيامنا؟ وماذا بقي في حياتهم من مواعظ فلاسفة الصين والهند؟ وماذا بقي من الوصايا الخلقية الفرعونية واليونانية؟ تغلغل –أيها الأخ- في ميول الناس بما أوتيت من قدرة الذكاء على الكشف والإستنتاج والحدس –وادرس علاقاتهم- ما يبدر منها ويستتر- تقع على ما تغرورق له عينا الكريم وقد عجزت عن إصلاحه وتقويمه ومداواته رسالات السماء، وعقول المصلحين العلماء، وفلاسفة الأخلاق الشرفاء المتشبثين بقيم الروح المتأبية الخضوع لسلطان البدن خضوعاً يسئ إلى المكارم النفسية المنسوبة إلى إرادة السماء".
يتطرق الكاتب إلى أسطورة الخلق في قالبها الأسطوري الديني، وقالبها العلمي، والمتخيل والواقعي، والهادف والإصلاحي، ويترجح بين التحليل العقلي والإيمان العاطفي الذي يصعب على الفرد مهما حاول أن يكون عقلانياً أن يتخلى عنه. ثم يناقش، بمنطق التحليل والإستنتاج، قضية وجود الله بقوله "هي صادقة حين ننزهه عن أن يوصف " و "قضية اللاوجود كاذبة حين نقول بأن الله عدم أو خواء" ويقول "والله في كل حال باقٍ في غيب هذا الكون سراً فوق الوجود واللاوجود".
ما يريد أن يقوله الكاتب هو أن قيمة كل علم أو إيمان هي في ما يؤدي للإنسان من نفع تتحقق به سعادته، ويتكلم بإعجاب عن كل دين: المسيحية: مثلها: وتربيتها، الإسلام: نظام دولة، الحفاظ على المرأة، التوحيد: العناصر الخمسة الأساسية في الدين: العقل والنفس والكلمة والسابق والتالي. ويعتبرها أركان شخصية الإنسان الكريم السليم القويم في كلَ حيز وكلَ أوان الإنسان الذي يبذر وجوده الخير بالقول والعمل أينما حل. لا يزيغ ولا يحطَه عن عرش قيمه إلا الموت؟.
