الكشف العلمي او المنهج العلمي أو الثقافة العلمية والكتاب يشرح كيفية الكشف العلمي الدقيق عبارة عن مجموعة من التقنيات والطرق المصممة لفحص الظواهر والمعارف المكتشفة أو المراقبة حديثا، أو لتصحيح وتكميل معلومات أو نظريات قديمة. تستند هذه الطرق أساسا على تجميع تأكيدات رصدية وتجريبي ومقيس (قابل للقياس) تخضع لمباديء الاستنتاج] «ويجب أن تعلمَ أنَّا نذكر في هذه الكتب خواصَّ ما رأينا فقط، دون ما سمعناه أو قيل لنا أو قرأناه، بعد أن امتحنَّاه وجربناه، فما صحَّ أوردناه، وما بطَل رفضناه، وما استخرجناه نحن أيضً ًا وقايسناه على أقوال هؤلاء القوم»والنظرية العلمية تنتمي لفئة النظريات الاستقرائية وذلك من حيث أن محتواها (أي بياناتها الإمبريقية) يمكن التعبير عنه في إطار نسق من المنطق الشكلي الذي تؤخذ قواعده الابتدائية (أي قوانينه العلمية) كمسلّمات بديهية وفي أي نظرية استنتاجية أي عبارة تتبع منطقيًا واحدًا أو أكثر من هذه المسلمّات وتترتب عليها تكون هي الأخرى عبارة من عبارات هذه النظرية. وتزخر العلوم الإنسانية بنظريات لا يتناول موضوعها البيانات وحدها، بل تتناول أفكارًا. وتنتمي هذه النظريات لمجال النظريات الفلسفية، وذلك تمييزًا لها عن مجال النظريات العلمية. والنظريات الفلسفية غير قابلة للضرورة للإثبات عن طريق إجراء التجارب
