كتاب الكامل في اللغة والأدب بقلم أبو العباس المبرد..وهذا الكتاب هو أحد أصول علم الأدب واركانه، وهو بمثابة ديوان تخير فيه مصنفه نصوصا من أقوال العرب القدامى شعرا ونثرا، وشرح هذه النصوص واستخرج ما فيها من فوائد ونكت تخص اللغه والأدب العربي.
من أمهات كتب الأدب العربي، هو أشهر كتب المبرد وأكثرها شيوعاً، وأحد أركان الأدب الأربعة.
وهو مجموعة من المختارات الأدبية، عني فيها بشرح المشكلات اللغوية والنحوية التي تثيرها تلك النصوص.
يجمع "أبو العباس محمد بن يزيد المبرد" في هذا الكتاب ضروباً من الآداب، ما بين كلام منثور، وشعر منظوم، ومثل سائر، وموعظة بالغة، واختيار من خطبة شريفة، ورسالة بليغة، والواضح لمن تأمل كتاب الكامل إن المصنف لم يقصد فيه إلى ترتيب أو تبويب بعينه ولكنه كان يجمع فيه أخبارا وقصصاً غايته من إيرادها أن يشقق الكلام على بيان غريبها وشرح جملها، وبيان اشتقاق اللغة وتصاريفها، وبيان أسرارها وفقهها وبعض معاني الكلام وبيانه وبديعة من تشبيه حسن، أو استعارة لطيفة أو كناية بليغة، وقد عني المحقق " بد الحميد هنداوي" بتحقيق هذا الكتاب الجليل، وتجلي عمه بـ أولاً، تجلية ما في الشواهد من الفنون البلاغية المختلفة، ثانيا: توثيق النصوص وبيان بلاغتها، ثالثاً: الشرح والتعليق على ما جاء في الكتاب من موضوعات متنوعة، رابعاً: تخريج النصوص وضبط وتصحيح الألفاظ، خامساً: تدوين فهارس علمية شاملة لنصوص الكتاب وموضوعاته وفوائده.
