لقد كان المجتمع قبل الإسلام يعيش في ظلام دامس، وبدون دستور ينظم لهم الحياة ،فانتشرت فيهم العادات السيئة مثل وأد البنات ،وشرب الخمور، وأكل الميتة ،والتمييز العنصري، وكان المجتمع أشبه بمجتمع الغابة ،البقاء فيه للأقوى، فضلا عن عبادة غير الله تعالي ، فكان ولابد من دستور ينظم لهم الحياة وتشريع لإصلاح المعاش والمعاد ،فكان من مصادر هذا التشريع القرآن الكريم هذا الدستور الذي أبهر الناس جميعا وأعجز أرباب الفصاحة والبلاغة وكان فيه حياة الأمة جميعا
