مسرحية الشعلة للمؤلف والكاتب الكبير هنري كيستماكرز الشعلة نشرت في مجلة الالستراسيون في19 إبريل سنة1913 وهي بالنسبة لمؤلفها من الآثار الخالدة بين مئات من منتجاته الأدبية، وهي الزاوية التي لايمكن لإنسان أن يجد فيها عيباأوثغرة في بنائها وتسلسل حوادثها أودقة حبكتها المسرحية. الأمر المدهش من مؤلف في ربيع حياته وإنتاجه الذي لم يصل إليه كثير غيره إلا بعد مران ووقت طويل. لقد كان كيستما كرز معتاداً مدة خمس عشرة سنه أن يمضي الصيف بالقرب من مدينة بحرية عسكرية وجد في جوها وفيمن فيها من أنزه وأشرف الضباط شيئاً مما جاء في الشعلة. ومما سيراه القراء الكرام ويحكمون به على حسن أختيارها, لقد أثارت هذه المسرحية حتي قبل ظهورها أمام الناس ضجة استحسان وعدة مقالات جعلت كبار أرباب المسارح في إنجلترا وأمريكا ثم ألمانيا والنمسا والمجر وإيطاليا يحصلون على امتياز تمثيلها في بلادهم، مثلت لاول مرة على مسرح البورت سان مارتان في 7 ديسمبر 1911.
