يأتي هذا الكتاب "السينما" جزء من موسوعة الفنون الجميلة للكاتبة "أيناس فوندويل" ومن تعريب "أنطوان الهاشم" للإضاءة على فن السينما منذ ولادته إلى ما سبقه من تصوير فوتوغرافي من حيث اختراع الإنسان جهازين الصور في العام 1891. صنع أديسون كاميرا تسجل الصور على غشاء رقيق (فيلم) هو مسجل الحركة ومكبر للصورة. أنا ولادة السينما فكانت على يد الفرنسي "جورج مالبيس" الذي ولد سحر السينما، الطريق هنا أن الناس عندما شاهدوا القاطرة في القاعة المظلمة مندفعة من الشاشة، متجهة نحو المشاهدين في الصف الأول، ارتاعوا وتركوا مقاعدهم هاربين إلى الوراء خوفاً من القطار!..." ثم تقدم هذا الفن وأصبح يعرض بالأبيض والأسود صامتاً ولم يظهر أول فيلم ناطق إلا في سنة 1927 ثم في الخمسينات حين كبرت الشاشات وشوهدت محاولات لصنع سينما متميزة.
