ليس هناك من شخصية في التاريخ الإسلامي المعاصر لقيت من الظلم والإجحاف والافتراء بقـدر ما لقيت شـخصية السلطان عبدالحميد الثاني،فقد صور من قبل أعدائه اليهود والأرمن بصورة السفاح فالأرمن أطلقوا عليـه في كتاباتهم لقب(السلطان الأحمـر) وأطلق عليـه غلادستون لقب(المجـرم الكبير).وحملات التشويه بحقـه لم تسلم منها كتب بعض المؤلفين العرب التي صورت السلطان في صورة الطاغيـة مثل كتاب(الانقـلاب العثماني)لجـرجي زيدان,و(الدولة العثمانية قبل الدستور وبعده) لسليمان البستاني...ولكن التاريخ أبى إلا أن يقول كلمته في حق هـذا الرجل الذي صـمد في وجـه اليهود والقوى الدولية الغاشـمة صـمود الأبطال،وهوصابر محتسب حتى خلع عن عرشه.وهذا ماذهب إليه المؤرخ الصلابي(2) في كتابه السلطان عبدالحميد:على أنه السلطان العادل الذي قدم الاصلاحات لبـلاد المسلمين وحكم دولة مترامية الأطـراف متعـددة الأعـراق بدهـاء وذكـاء ومـد في عمر الدولة والخـلافة العثمانية ووقف ضـد تكالب الدول الكـبرى التي أرادت اقتسام الممالك الاسلاميـة.ولاننسى مـوقـفـه الحـازم في منـع كيان يهـودي في فلسطين
