جري سؤالهم في المجلس عن التعامل مع العدو؟ شعروا بوجع صارخ من السؤال, أجابوا بحقيقة تبدو كالسخرية: أن العدو تعامل معنا كعدو, وله الحق في ذلك, ألسنا أعداءه بحق الله من كل الوجوه؟ لقد حبسونا في سجونهم, وكالوا لنا الضربات, وقالوا عنا خائنين, غير أننا أحتملنا الجور والأذي منهم, حتي جاءت دولتنا, فإذا بنا في السجون مرة أخري, فهل نحن هنا أعداء أيضاً؟ ما الفرق يا سيدي؟ إذا جاء اليهود صرخوا بنا: تعال يا خمار, روح يا خمار, وإذا جنتم يا باشا صرختم في وجوهنا: تعال يا ابن القحبة, روح يا ابن الشرموطة.
