يعتبر هذا الكتاب من الكتب العربية المتميزة التى تناولت نظم التشغيل MS-DOS – MS-Windows من حيث الوظائف والخصائص الفنية، ويتصف هذا الكتاب بالبساطة. وقد تناول هذا الكتاب في الباب الأول نظام التشغيل MS-DOS وسبل التعامل مع الأقراص وتنظيم الملفات والفهارس وملفات الأوامر المجمعة كما تضمن بعض الأوامر المتقدمة التى تتيح للمستخدم التحكم في المدخلات والمخرجات. أما من خلال الباب الثاني فقد تناول طرق النسخ الإحتياطي للملفات وزيادة سعة القرص وزيادة الذاكرة المتاحة بالإضافة إلى آلية ربط أجهزة الحاسبات من خلال نظام التشغيل. وفي البال الثالث فقد تناول نظام التشغيل MS-Windows والمهارات الأساسية للتعامل معه ودور مدير البرامج ومدير الملفات كما تم عرض طرق تحقيق الأداء الأمثل وطرق كتابة البرامج النوافذية.
