امرأة تعود إلى البلد، إنها فتاة، ثم فتاة صغيرة، زوجة، وأم وأخت. إن تلك النقطة الأخيرة مكان للأسرار.
تركض تلك المرأة، تنتقل من بيتها، تشتري أثاث وتترك أثاثاً آخر، تستقر عدة أشهر وتكتب بصيغة المتكلم من حين إلى حين. تجذبها (دار الأموات) كما يجذب الكازينو المغامر، لكن زوجها يعارضها، لحسن الحظ.
إنه بلد صغير، رائع، يقع على شاطئ بحر رملي يصلح للسباحة، لكن تقاليده المأتمية لا تجذب، بالطبع، السائحين.
إن موطن الرأس يعني ذرة من تربة، كما يعني غشاء رحمياً مخاطياً، إنه لغة، وهو ذاكرة الموتى. إنه تاريخ وجغرافية، إنه رواية حب، وبطاقات بريدية.
لكن أيوجد بلد بلا دولة؟ هل هناك بلد قطع مزقاً؟، وامرأة حامل بعقل سياسي؟
قررت امرأة تمضي فترة جملها في مكان ناء في البلد الذي رأت فيه النور. لجأت الكاتبة بشكل متواتر إلى صيغة المتكلم وصيغة الغائب وعي تسرد قصة مزدوجة عن الأصول وعن حملها لطفلة وعن عودتها إلى المصادر العائلية، وتعني بالبلد بلد الباسك (الذي يقع بين فرنسة وإسبانيا)
