Book Description
سار أبو إسحاق الزجّاج (توفي سنة 316ه) في "كتاب الأنواء" على مذهب العرب قديماً، فذكر معارفهم في النجوم والأنوار. وأضاف إليها معارف عديدة مما كان معروفاً لدى الأمم الأخرى في البلاد المجاورة لجزيرة العرب. وقد بيّن ما يكون في أرباع السنة، أي الفصول الأربعة، من الأنواء وصفات نجومها، وطلوعها وغروبها في أزمانها من الشهور. وأشار إلى ما يحدث في كل نوء من حوادث الطبيعة، وتغير الأحوال، مثل ابتداء الحر والبرد، واشتدادهما وانقضائهما، وهطول الأمطار، وهبوب الرياح في الليل والنهار، ونبات الأرض، واخضرار العشب، وتوريق الأشجار، وإدراك الثمار، وإيناع الرُّطب. وأفاد القارىء بمعرفة بعض الأعمال التي تكون في أزمنة بعض الأنواء، مثل ابتداء حصاد الشعير والحنطة وانقضائه، وقطف العنب، وصِرام النخل، وقطع الخشب والقصب، في الأقاليم المختلفة، ولا سيما إقليم العراق. أما السمة البارزة في هذا الكتاب على ما يذكر المحقق الدكتور عزّة حسن هي عناية ابي إسحاق الزجاج بالناحية اللغوية، والإشتقاق اللغوي وتفسيره للألفاظ والمعاني وإيراده طائفة كبيرة من أسماء السنين والشهور، وحدود الليل والنهار، وإحصاؤه الأفعال والأسماء والصفات التي استعملها العرب في ساعات الليل والنهار، وفي أوقات الرياح والأمطار ولا سيما أسماء الحر ودرجات اشتداده، واختلافها من فصل إلى فصل حتى جاء كتابه معرضاً حافلاً بالألفاظ التي عرفها العرب واستعملوها في باب الأنواء والأزمنة.
