إن مصطلح (schizophrenia) نشأَ من الكلمة الاغریقیة schizo و التلي تعني (أنقسام) و phren بمعنى (عقل) ، التي صاغھا الطبیب السویسري یوجین بلولر في عام 1908 لوصف التفكیر المجزأ و الادراك المضطرب الذي یعاني منھ الافراد المصابون بھذا الاضطراب ، اراد بلولر ان یعكس ھذا المصطلح الانفصال بین العملیات الفكریة و المشاعر و السلوك و لیس الایحاء بوجود شخصیة منقسمة ، و ھو مفھوم خاطئ شائع . فكيف يتم معالجته بالانسولين ؟
