تم العثور على هذه الرواية بعد أن بقيت ضائعة أكثر من ثلاثين سنة، لقد عثروا عليها في قاع صندوق عتيق مكتظ بالأوراق القديمة والدوريات.
كانت الرواية مسبوقة برسالة للزوجة والمولود المنتظر: سائلاً إياهما... في حال حدث مكروه، أن يسعيا فوراًإلى طباعتها كما هي، وإنما تحت اسم مستعار.
وأياً يكن الأمر، فقد قررت الزوجة والابن نشر الرواية باسم مستعار على الرغم مما تتسم به من بناء مفكك، وإننا لنشعر أننا بنشرنا للرواية، قد وفينا ذكراه، بشيء مما تستحقه من الاحترام.
الرواية: حرب بطولية عن النضال من أجل البقاء على قيد الحياة، تتحدث عن اختفاء الآلاف من الرجال، وبعض النساء على أيدي البوليس السري لتلك الديكاتوريات تحت جنح الظلام.
إنه لمن سوء الحظ أن هذه المأساة تحدث في التشيلي والسلفادور وفي جنوب أفريقيا والفلبين، لقد حدثت في الدانمارك سابقاً ومن يدري أين ستحدث غداً.
يقول الكاتب: ما احتاجه، إذن... هو القليل من الخيال من أجل تحرير الشخصيات وتبديل المناظر.
