في علاقة السعودية و"جماعة الإخوان المسلمون" أسئلة جمّة، ومقاربات شتى، ومن غير الممكن تقديم إجابات حاسمة دون تفكيك تلك العلاقة في ضوء ما علق بها من تعقيدات نتيجة التحوّلات الحادة التي مرت بها، أو تأويلات بعض فصولها، والإحتدامات السياسية في مراحل بالغة الحساسية وما نجم عنها من تداعيات على بنية العلاقة وتظهيراتها التنظيمية والثقافية والسياسية.
لا ريب في أن سردية "الإخوان" المكتوبة بأقلامهم تستدعي حذراً شديداً، لأسباب عدة، من بينها أن هذه السردية لم تكتب بصورة كاملة في مرحلة زمنية واحدة، بل تناوب عليها عدد غير قليل من شخصيات "الإخوان" من مراتب قيادية متفاوتة: من جهة أخرى، يصعب قبول رواية - دون فحص واختبار - يكتبها أبطالها، بل لا بد من مصادر أخرى محايدة لإثبات صحتها أو سقمها.
النقص الفادح في المعلومات حول المرحلة التأسيسية من سيرة الجماعة يملي مهمة إضافية لجهة العثور على ما يسد النقص، وذلك بقراءة السياقات التي تموضعت فيها العلاقة بين "الإخوان المسلمون" والسعودية في ضوء متحولات جيوسياسية إقليمية ودولية، والتطورات اللاحقة التي فرضت نفسها على مسار العلاقة حرارة وفتوراً، وجموداً وخصومة. وكذلك دور العوامل الضالعة في تسيير دفة العلاقة.
