تدور احداث تلك الروايه حول مفهوم حريه الإنسان فى الاختيار. فالله سبحانه و تعالى خلق الإنسان و كرمه بالعقل و جعل له اراده و ذلك لغاية و هى ان بعبده باختياره لٌس قهرا. فهذا الإنسان ٌمختلف عن سائر المخلوقات المكلفه بالعباده و التى منها على سبيل المثال الملائكه التى تعبد الله بالليل و النهار و هم لا بسأمون و ذلك لأنها مخلوقات نورانيه جبلت
على الطاعه، كما ان هناك مخلوقات اخرى يعبدون الله عز وجل و يسبحونه و لكن لا نفقه تسبيحهم بفطرتها الثابته التى فطرها الله عليها. اما الإنسان فهو ذو العقل الذى ٌيستطع التمييز به و اتخاذ قرار الاختيار بحريه تامه لٌكونه مسئول عن نتيجته و تحمل الجزاء عليه. فهذا المفهوم بتواجد فى خلفيه احداث الروايه يؤكده نفسيات شخصياتها المختلفه ذات الثقافات المتعدده و البيئات المتنوعه
