يستكشف هذا الكتاب كيف أُعِيد ابتكارُ الأخبار على فترات تاريخية مختلفة، بدءًا من رواة القصص في العصور الوسطى، إلى وكالات التلغراف الإخبارية في القرن التاسع عشر، ووصولًا إلى المدونات والبودكاست في القرن الحادي والعشرين. وتذهب المؤلفة إلى أن حداثة الأخبار يعاد تشكيلها بانتظام، وأن عهد الأخبار «المجرَّدة» قد ولى؛ فالأخبار في معظمها قصصٌ قديمة في ثوب جديد.
