Book Description
كان ماركوس في السابعة عشرة من عمره فقط، لكنه اكتشف أنه يعرف بالفعل كيف يعمل النظام، وكيف يمكن التعامل معه والتغلب عليه. كان يتميز بالذكاء والسرعة والحكمة فيما يتعلق بالطرق التي يعمل بها العالم الذي يعتمد على الاتصال بالشبكات، ومن ثم لم تكن لديه أدنى مشكلة في التغلب على نظم المراقبة المتطفلة والغبية المستخدمة في مدرسته الثانوية.
لكن عالمه يتغير جذريًّا عندما يجد نفسه هو وأصدقاءه وقد ألقي القبض عليهم في أعقاب هجوم إرهابي كبير على سان فرانسيسكو. فبسبب تواجد ماركوس ورفاقه في المكان الخطأ في التوقيت الخطأ، ألقت قوات وزارة الأمن الوطني القبض عليهم، واقتادتهم إلى سجن سري حيث استجوبوا بلا رحمة على مدار عدة أيام.
وأخيرًا عندما أطلق ضباط وزارة الأمن الوطني سراحهم، اكتشف ماركوس أن مدينته تحولت إلى مدينة بوليسية يُعامَل كل مواطن فيها وكأنه إرهابي محتمل. كان يدرك أن أحدًا لن يصدق روايته، الأمر الذي لم يترك أمامه سوى خيار واحد: القضاء على وزارة الأمن الوطني بنفسه.
