يختص هذا الكتاب الجدير بالاهتمام بعرض حياة شخصية مصرية قديمة تبوأت مكاناً بارزاً وهاماً فى عصر فريد ورائع رغم أسراره الملغزة وتعدد نظرياته العويصة التى زاد من تعقيدها والتباسها جنوح بعض المتخصصين إلى الأخذ بكثرة البديهيات والتأويلات والافتراضات. لقد عاش الأب الإلهى آى فى العصر المعروف باسم عصر العمارنة وعاصر عدداً كبيراً من شخصياته الهامة وأبرزهم امنحوتب الرابع أخنآتون وسمنخكارع وتوت عنخ آمون، علاوة على تداخل حياته وتشابكها مع تى (زوجة امنحوتب الثالث) ونفرتيتى وابنتها عنخس إن آمون والجنرال حورمحب. أضف إلى ذلك أنه تقلد عدة مناصب رفيعة ربطته بالبلاط الملكى العمارنى أثناء حكم امنحوتب الرابع أخنآتون وسمنخكارع وتوت عنخ آمون والتى كان من أبرزها رئيس الفرسان والمعلم الملكى والوزير، غير أنه لم يكن هناك أهم من توليه عرش مصر عقب الوفاة المفاجئة لمليكه الأخير توت عنخ آمون. وتعد هذه الحالة من المرات القليلة التى يشاهد فيها قصة حياة ملك مصرى قديم منذ دخوله بلاط ملكى وترقيه فيه حتى يحين أوانه وتقوده الظروف وحسن الطالع إلى الجلوس على عرش مصر، درة العالم القديم وكبرى وأعظم بلدانه.
