من الأسر البيروتية الإسلامية العريقة، من جذور عربية، أسهمت في فتوحات المغرب العربي. حيث تشيد سجلات المحكمة الشرعية إلى أن آل يموت وآل سنّو وآل النحاس هم من فرع واحد تفرعت عبر العصور على غرار الكثير من العائلات البيروتية والعربية. أما سبب التسمية فهو احد اجداد الأسرة أقسم على أن يستمر مجاهداً عن ثغر بيروت، إما أن ينتصر وإما أن يموت في سبيل الله وهناك رواية أخرى تشير إلى أن أحد اجداد الأسرة كان يقاتل في ثغر بيروت في العصور الوسطى فقيل بانه ذهب يقاتل حتى يموت في سبيل الله، بمعنى أن يستشهد دفاعاً عن الأراضي الإسلامية. وقد تميّزت هذه الأسرة بالفقه والعلم والتجارة والجرأة، وأنها من الأسر الشريفة ونسب الأسرة من المغرب. وتفرّع من العائلة فرع من آل سنو وآل الحجال وآل العتر وآل سميسمة وآل الأنكدار وآل النحاس وغيرهم من الفروع التي هاجرت من العائلة وهي فروع إسطنبول وفرع أزمير وقد نمت ذريّة كبيرة هناك. كما هناك ايضاً فرع في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وفي بريطانيا والعديد من الدول الأخرى.
يتوجه هذا الكتاب لكل فرد من أفراد عائلة "آل يموت" حيث يهدف إلى حفظ ومعرفة نسب هذه العائلة الشريفة، بالإضافة إلى دورة في تقوية الروابط العائلية وصلة الرحم، كما يسعى الكتاب إلى تدعيم الاقتصاد الداخلي للعائلة الكريمة.
