"حيث وجدت الرواية ""في ملفّات الطبيبة السورية في هولندا ما كانت تبوح به “مينا” من تفاصيل مهمة، وغير مهمة عن طفولتها، ومراهقتها ، ودراستها الجامعية، والتي وصلت لي بموافقة الطرفين، لم أركّز في ماهية دوافعي لاستئصال ورم الماضي، وتحليل خلاياه تحت مجهر مزيّف، يعملق ويقزّم التشوّهات بضغطة زر من عقلي الباطن، وإن كنتُ لا أفهم غاياتي، على وجه الدقة، لكنني متيقّن بأني جلدتُ بسوط روايتها ذاتي، وأنا أقتفي أثر جروحها على ظهر الوقت، وأنا أنصت إلى حفيف ثوبها الغجري، وصلصلة الحصى تحت قدميها، مُزيلاً رغوة الرغبة المجنونة من شفتها السفلى، مُطفئاً سعارها بمزن ثلوجي، وغطاء قُبحي.»
مينا فتاة غنجة ومدللة بطبيعتها، نشأت، في مطلع الثمانينيات، في كنف عائلتها البغدادية المثقفة. تنتقل مينا بعد تخرجها من الجامعة إلى مدينة الديوانية حيث تسكن عمّتها فتلتقي هناك بعادل .. ذلك الرسام السريالي المُبعد من الكويت بعد حرب الخليج تحت تصنيف (البدون) والذي يشحن فيها مشاعر أنثوية مختلفة. تعود بعد سنة متقهقرة إلى أهلها في بغداد، التي لا تُطيل فيها المكوث حتى تُقلع بها الطائرة إلى زوجها محمد، الذي تزوجته عن طريق تبادل الصور بين العائلتين، فتصل أمستردام حيث المنفى والمنأى عن كل شيء إلا ذكرياتها اللصيقة بعقلها الباطن. وفي أمستردام تتبلور حياتها بشكل مختلف.
