وكلا الفريقين المأسورون والفارون ليسوا على استعداد لفكّ طلاسم الأسرار التي ظلّت وسيظل بعدها بدون إجابة شافية وتفسير منطقي يروي ظمأ الطامحين لمعرفة ما جرى خلف الكواليس ووراء الأستار..
وهذا الكتاب يحاول حل تلك الطلاسم وتوثيق ما حدث، مستعرضاً أكثر من رواية للحدث بالنص والتحليل، خاصة لغز السقوط المريع لبغداد، حيث سنكشف النقاب عن أكثر من خيانة حصلت بالفعل، كذلك عملية القبض على الرئيس المخلوع صدام حسين، وما اكتنفهما من أسرار، وأحاط بها من غموض، وسيتعرض الكتاب لتاريخ النظام الحافل بالجرائم المريعة والمقابر الجماعية، ونحاول أن نقوم بإماطة اللثام عن الكثير من سيرة صدام السرية، واليت أخفيت حتى عن أقرب المقربين إليه، وسيرة أفراد أسرته والمقربين منهم.
ثم نترك للقارئ حرية الاستنتاج حسب الطريقة التي يحب، وأن يكون وجهة نظره المستقلة بعيداً عن التأثيرات الأخرى، لذلك فقد تركت الأحداث تتحدث عن نفسها دون تدخل إلا عند مقارنة الروايات أو تحليلها.
إنه جهد يؤرخ طامحاً إلى إماطة اللثام عن وجه الحقيقية وكشف الغموض وتبيان مجريات الأمور في واحدة من أكثر الحقب السياسية والعسكرية والمنية غموضاً وإثارة.
