تلقى الدراسة الابتدائية في الزلفي، ثم درس في معهد الرياض العلمي وكلية الشريعة بالرياض.
درَّس في عام 1379هـ في معهد بريدة العلمي، وفي عام 1380هـ في معهد الرياض العلمي.
بدأ التدريس في الجامعة الإسلامية بالمدينة المنورة منذ تأسيسها عام 1381هـ.
عمل نائباً لرئيس الجامعة مدة ست سنوات ابتداء من 1393هـ.
درَّس في المسجد النبوي من أول عام 1406هـ ولا يزال.
وتفصيل ذلك ف عبد المحسن بن حمد بن عبد المحسن العباد البدر.
