يقدّم هذا الكتاب نبذة عن مداخل التاريخ، وكيف تُستخدَمُ لرفع أو كسر الروح المعنويّة للأمم، ثم يطوف مع بعض نظرات المفكرين، وسيتوقف مع تصوّرات ابن خلدون حول دور العصبيّة في قيام الدول، ويدرس أثر التحدّيات في النهضات، وأثر الأفكار في حدوث التقدّم، وأثر الصّراع في الموارد في قيام الدّول.
كما يتناول بعض ما جاء في القرآن الكريم من قوانين تتعلّق بالنهضة، بالإضافة إلى أهمّ أعمال المفكّرين.
وسيضرب صفحاً عن النقد الموجّه لكلِّ نظريّةٍ من النظريّات التي سيطرحها، لأن الهدف من هذا الكتاب هو الإستفادة من أفكار المفكّرين، وإستخدام الصّالح منها؛ مع الإشارة إلى أنّ إقتباسات المؤلّف من أفكار بعض مفكّري الغرب - مثل هيغل وماركس - لا يعني تقبّله كلَّ أفكارهم، وإنما هو إيمان منه بأن الحكمة ضالّة المؤمن، وأنَّ هؤلاء الناس كما زاغوا في أمورٍ فقد أضافوا في أمورٍ أخرى.
