لفت الأنظار إليه عام 2001 عندما نشر روايته "أنا لا أخاف" والتي نالت جائزة Viareggio-Repaci الإيطالية الرفيعة، كما تُرجمت إلى 35 لغة، فضلا عن تحولها لاحقًا، مثل بعض أعماله الأخرى، إلى فيلم.
