عبد الرحمن الابنودي واحداً من أشهر شعراء الشعر العامية في مصر و العالم العربي شهدت معه وعلى يديه القصيدة العامية مرحلة انتقالية مهمة في تاريخها كتب لكبار المطربين وتنوعت اعماله مابين العاطفي والوطني والشعبي ولد عام 1938م في قرية أبنود بمحافظة قنا في صعيد مصر، لأب كان يعمل مأذوناً شرعياً، وانتقل إلى مدينه قنا حيث استمع إلى اغاني السيرة الهلالية التي تأثر بها.
من أشهر أعماله السيرة الهلالية التي جمعها من شعراء الصعيد ولم يؤلفها.
ومن أشهر كتبه كتاب (أيامي الحلوة) والذي نشره في حلقات منفصلة في ملحق أيامنا الحلوة بجريدة الأهرام تم جمعها في هذا الكتاب بأجزائه الثلاثة، وفيه يحكي الأبنودي قصصاً وأحداثاً مختلفة من حياته في صعيد مصر حصل الأبنودي على جائزة الدولة التقديرية عام 2001، ليكون بذلك أول شاعر عامية مصري يفوز بجائزة الدولة التقديرية

هذا العمل هو التقطير الأنقى لكل خطوات عبد الرحمن الأبنودي في مشواره الفني وهو الوفاء الصادق لحق عليه حمله في عنقه ولم ينكره نحو بلده وناسه وإخوانه المطمورين في جوف المناجم الفعلية والمعنوية، ليس صدفة إذن أن يعتمل كل الذي نراه خلال الرواية في صدر (أحمد سماعين) وليس من صدفة أن يختاره الأبنودي.. إنه بذلك يحكي سيرتنا.. نجد في سيرة أحمد سماعين ما ليس هو "سيرة أبو زيد الهلالي"، فإنها سيرة بطل بدأت بطولته عندما وضع يده على جسم حقيقته، وقال: أنا مهزوم.. ثم تساءل.. لماذا؟
