هذا الكتاب للحكيم الترمذي وهو أحد أعلام القرن العاشر الميلادي والذي كان له دور عميق في تاريخ الفكر الإسلامي، حيث كان بمثابة الوسيط بين الفقهاء والمتصوفة والفلاسفة في زمانه، وفي هذا الكتاب نجد أن المؤلف يفلسف الشريعة بالبحث عن أسرارها ومقاصدها، فالحكيم الترمذي يعتبر مؤسسا لفكر إسلامي قائم على أساس الإيمان الإسلامي المستند إلى العقل والعرفان حين يقوم بتحليل المسائل المعقدة في الشريعة التي أخذت شكلها النهائي في عصره. ولذلك فإن أفكاره ونظرياته حول الشريعة وأسرارها من الأهمية بمكان لأنها تقف شاهدة في عصره على التجديد التاريخي الذي خدم به الشريعة.
