مفكر مصري، متخصص في الاقتصاد السياسي، مؤسِّس مدرسة الإسكندرية كتيارٍ فكري هدفه إحياءُ الاقتصاد السياسي بصفته علمًا اجتماعيًّا، وإعادةُ النظر في مسلَّماته ونظرياته. من أهم مُساهَماته نقدُه الحاسم لنظرية التبادل غير المتكافئ، وتصحيح مقياس القيمة بعد أكثر من مِائتَي سنة من كتابات «ماركس». وتُعَد نظريته في تسرُّب القيمة على الصعيد العالمي من النظريات المهمة في تفسير تخلُّف بلدان العالم الثالث.
وُلِد «محمد عادل زكي» في حي الإبراهيمية بمحافظة الإسكندرية في الحادي عشر من شهر سبتمبر عام ١٩٧٢م، والتحق بكلية الحقوق جامعة الإسكندرية، وتخرَّج فيها عام ١٩٩٢م، وعمل بالمحاماة.
من أهم مؤلَّفاته: «مبادئ الاقتصاد السياسي»، و«التبعية مقياس التخلُّف»، و«روَّاد الفكر الاقتصادي»، و«اقتصادات تنزف عرقًا»، و«الاقتصاد السياسي للتخلف»، بالإضافة إلى العديد من الأبحاث المنشورة في دوريات علمية محكَّمة باللغات العربية والفرنسية والإنجليزية

Dans cet article, je remplace la théorie du mode de production — après avoir critique ses fondements idéologiques — par une hypothèse fondée sur une compréhension critique des lois régissant le mouvement de l’activité économique tout au long de la trajectoire étendue du développement social et économique humain. Cette hypothèse postule que le capitalisme — compris comme la subordination de l’activité économique d’une société aux lois régissant le mouvement du capital — constitue la base fondamentale de tous les systèmes sociaux, indépendamment du degré de développement des forces productives dominantes ou de la forme prise par les relations de production dominantes. Cette approche permet une réinterprétation de la nature de toutes les doctrines et du véritable caractère de ces théories et systèmes qui ont vidé l’économie politique de son essence sociale et de son sens civilisationnel, la transformant en un outil de domination et de subjugation plutôt qu’en un instrument de conscience et de libération.
