يمر التحليل اللغوي من ثلاث مراحل أساسية: يبدأ بتكوين الجملة الذي يتم عبر آلية التعليق النحوي، أي عبرَ الربط بين عناصر الفئات النحوية (كلمات،جمل،زمن،شخص ،عدد) بواسطة علاقات نحوية (الفاعلية ،المفعولية، الخبرية، الحالية..).
فإذا أخذت الجملة صورتها التركيبية السليمة وسويت تركيبا وضمونا، انتقلَت إلى المرحلة البلاغية لإتمامها وذلك برد العبارة التي يشكّلُها المتلقي إلى التركيب الأصلي ويشكلها المتكلم إلى تركيب تابع، وتُستدعى لهذا الغرض مجموعة من العمليات البلاغية منها الحذف والتقدير والإسناد والزمن..وفي المرحلة الختامية يُجعل للعبارة المتولدة عن المرحلتين السابقتين وظائف متنوعة تؤديها في سياقات مختلفة .
