سليمان العليمات من مواليد قرية الزنية التابعة لمحافظة المفرق. حصل على درجة البكالوريوس في الصيدلة من جامعة ارسطو اليونانية عام 1980 ودكتوراه في العقاقير وكيمياء النواتج الطبيعية من جامعة بيتسبرج بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية عام 1986. وقد نشر أكثر من 90 بحثًا علميًا في المجلات العلمية المرموقة للغاية. في عام 2004 ، تم اختياره كباحث متميز في العلوم الطبية ، وهي جائزة من وزارة التعليم العالي والبحث العلمي الأردنية. وتم منحه شهادة شرف من جامعة سوكا اليابانية. كما أنه يستمتع بكتابة الروايات ذات الخيال العلمي والتحولات الأسطورية مع إبرازها في العالم الحديث. وقد تنبأ بالربيع العربي في روايته " عودة أغاممنون". نشر ست روايات باللغة العربية وتم ترجمة اثنتين إلى اللغة الإنجليزية حتى الآن. ويعتبر كتابة الروايات حالة من التمرد السلمي. يعمل حاليا أستاذا في كلية الصيدلة في جامعة العلوم والتكنولوجيا الأردنية.
Book Description
Memory of a Fish offers a series of vignettes into the early career of Mamdouh, a self-aware young man growing up in rural Jordan. Life is not always easy for Mamdouh and his community, who is dogged by bad luck and corruption within government circles, but Mamdouh deals with each setback in a humorous, honest and fatalistic fashion. We meet this engaging protagonist on the day he graduates from high school, and the subsequent erratic path he takes evokes moments from his childhood, which he describes with warmth and pathos. It is Mamdouh’s determination to hold onto the old-fashioned values of his upbringing that endears us to this irrepressible individual. Olimat manages to convey images of a rural Middle Eastern world with touches of humanity, piercing observation, and nostalgia. His prose captures a country of times past and how this way of life is being drastically altered by cynical profiteering individuals.
