The first Spanish edition was published at Zamora in 1542, under title: "La relacion que dio Aluar Nuñez Cabeça de Veca de lo acaescido enlas Indias enla armada donde yua por gouernador Pãphilo de Narbaez, desde el año de veynte y siete hasta el año de treynta y seys ..." The present edition is a revision of B. Smith's translation privately printed at Washington in 1851, from the 2d Spanish edition, published at Valladolid, 1555. The appendix includes translations of various Spanish documents relating to the expedition of Narváez and its historian
