Book Description
The essays assembled here were written during the past eight or nine years, on varying occasions and subjects. However, they are united, in that they all concern Islam and its world view and specifically three basic aspects of Islam and its intellectual and spirittual life: the social and juridical dimensions of Islam concerned with the Sacred Law, the sciences of nature, and the philosophical and metaphysical aspects of Islam, as contained in Islamic philosophy on the one hand and in Sufism on the other. None of these subjects its treated exhaustively. Rather, these essays are united in that each treats of some aspect of that totality which is the Islamic tradition. They are studies on aspects of that totality and as such do not seek to be a thorough description of the whole of it.
