مؤلف مسرحي ومخرج وممثل كبير.
تتلمذ علي يد الفنانين الرواد حقي الشبلي وابراهيم جلال .
تخرج من معهد الفنون الجميلة عام 1958وعمل مع العديد من فرق التمثيل العراقية وشارك في الافلام السينمائية والاعمال التلفزيونية والاذاعية يعتبر رائد مسرح اللامعقول العربي حيث كتب اولى مؤلفاته في هذا المجال بداية الستينات كما ان له اعمال مميزة في مجال التاليف لمسرح الطفل نال العديد من التكريمات منها ( الجامعة العربية - عن التاليف المسرحي عام 2002 ) واتحاد الادباء والكتاب في العراق 2011 وحاز على جائزة الابداع 2003 .
