Gordon Wagner was born on April 13, 1915 in Redondo Beach, Calif., attended UCLA and received a BA in Engineering from UC Berkeley. Beyond college, he studied a year at Chouinard Art Institute and privately with Norman S. Chamberlain. He worked as a tool and die maker (1934-42) and a tool design engineer (1942-58), but after 1958 he devoted his time fully to being a professional artist and teacher. He has been represented in major galleries since the 1930s. He started teaching in 1956 and kept it up until 1987. In addition to his artwork, he has 3 books and 2 films to his credit
