In outlining any subject, difficult choices must be made as to what will be included, and this mean that virtually no one will be completely satisfied with the result. In this first edition of "Basics in Recombinant DNA Technology" I tried very hard to organize a basic outline in a way to be very clear, helpful and in parallel with the vast growing and developments of this field. Basics in Recombinant DNA technology is a guide for students provides readers with both a basic Text and an activities manual suitable for Learning the Fundamental of molecular biology and modern Biotechnology. The book combines lucidly written basic text and classic Laboratory procedures, to convey the excitement of contemporary biology to a broad audience of teachers, students and researchers. This book directed at both students who are being introduced to molecular biology techniques for the first time, and experienced researchers who are very familiar with the methods but may want to learn more about the theoretical mechanisms involved in each procedure. It is also designed to help teachers develop laboratories that involve concepts of molecular biology. Since this book is also intended to be a teaching manual for new inexperienced workers I am including my e-mail address so that the reader can contact me directly in case of difficulties with techniques and procedures described, ([email protected]) . This book is organized by units, each unit composed of several chapters. Each unite start with introduction and basic principles of the subject discussed. Each chapter includes listing of materials and the protocol steps. Full references can be found in the references section. All recipes for reagents and solution used in the protocols are provided in the Appendix. Some units contains more than one protocol, these protocols might have different equipments or reagents which can be employed to achieve similar ends, or the starting material requires a variation in approaches, or requirements for the end product differ from one protocol to another.
