هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى الكشف عن أفضلية مبحث العلوم بين المباحث الدراسية لدى طلبة الصف العاشر الأساسي في دولة فلسطين، ومدى توافق أهداف مبحث العلوم في تحقيق فلسفة الأفضلية وفعالية/ أثر فلسفة الأفضلية في تحقيق الأهداف التعليمية/ التعلمية، وقد اتبعت الباحثة المنهج الوصفي الميداني الذي يستخدم الوصف وتوزيع الإستبانات في الإجابة عن أسئلة الدراسة، بالإضافة إلى المقابلات واستقراء التراث التربوي في هذا المجال حيث اشتملت عينة الدراسة على (4771 ) طالب وطالبة من الصف العاشر الأساسي تم اختيارها بأسلوب الطبقية العشوائية ممثلة لتوزيع الطلبة في المناطق والمحافظات الفلسطينية وإجراء المقابلة الشخصية من قبل الباحثة مع عينة عشوائية قصدية بلغ عددها (1190) طالب وطالبة من الصف العاشر الأساسي ممن يفضلون ولا يفضلون مبحث العلوم العامة، كما تم إجراء مقابلات شبه مقننة مع (20) شخص من القائمين على أمر المناهج الفلسطينية.
