يستقصد الكتاب رسم معادلة بين لغة النص الشرعي المتعالية وبين مدارك البشر المتفاوتة لدلالات الألفاظ اللغوية بناء على تفاوتهم في تمثلاتهم لهذه الدلالات استصحابا لها من زمن ما قبل ورود النص الشرعي الذي يحمل دلالات موافقة للفطرة السليمة. لكن بشرية الإنسان الجامحة تنزع به حثيثا إلى ما عهده في أحواله العامة من تمثلات لدلالات الألفاظ لإسقاطها على فهمه للغة القرآن. وفي ذلكم تتفاوت المدارك ومن ثم تتفاوتنزاعات التأويلات وتنشأ الاختلافات والمذاهب والنزاعات.
من أجله جاء هذا الكتاب محاولة جادة لرسم حدود الانفلات وحدود الانضباط في فهم النص الشرعي وتنزيل أحكامه، والتنبيه على مواطن الخلل في إعمال أدوات التأويل
