هذا الكتاب الذي نضم في مئة باب في المعارف والاخلاق، والذي تلقاه الكثير من العلماء بالقبول ، ونقلوا عنه في مصنفاتهم الاخلاقية والحديثية ، واستدل ببعض نصوصه فقهاء الامامية على بعض المسائل الشريعة، واوصى بعض العلماء المسافرين باصطحابه في السفر ليكون عوناً وانساً، ولعل معنى هذا السفر غير ما يراد به ظاهرة وانما في السفر الى الآخرة هذا الكتاب – بحدود اطلاعي- لم يحقق تحقيقاً علمياً ، نعم شرح ونسخ مرات ومرات عديدة ، بل يعتبر من اكثر كتب الامامية انتشاراً، إلا أنه لم يقابل على النسخ الخطية مع ما فيه من مشاكل في صحة النسبة واختلاف النسخ وتعدد الابواب وتغير اماكنها، مما سوف يطلع عليه القارىء الكريم في هذا العمل ، كل ذلك دعانا الى ان نقدم على تحقيقه واخترنا لذلك عددا محدودا من النسخ الخطية المتوفرة لدينا، لتشابه نسخة العديدة فيما بينها ، وقد قدمنا قبل التحقيق بدراسة عن نسبة الكتابة وبيان آراء العلماء فيه وطريقتنا في التحقيق،مع اطلالة مختصرة على سيرة الامام الصادق عليه السلام
